The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro pick up new updates as rollouts expand for the P20 and P20 Pro
Huawei has released new updates to the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, days after doing the same for the Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, P20 and P20 Pro. The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro started life on Android 9.0 Pie, so they should both have at least one more OS update in them, unlike the other four former flagships that Huawei updated earlier this week. EMUI 11 is not due to arrive until September at the earliest, so the new updates for the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are incremental ones.
Specifically, the new round of updates bring the two devices onto the August set of Android security patches. According to Huawei Central, Huawei has assigned the build number EMUI 10.1.0.298 for this month's update. If Huawei did not upgrade your handset to the July security patches, then EMUI 10.1.0.298 will roll these into the August ones. The new updates address 2 critical CVEs and 21 high-level ones.
Additionally, Huawei has started upgrading the European versions of the P20 and P20 Pro to the July security patches. This update brings the regional variants into line with their Chinese counterparts, which Huawei began upgrading earlier this week. However, Huawei has rolled out EMUI 10.0.0.171 to the European models, compared to the EMUI 10.0.0.175 or EMUI 10.0.0.176 that reached the Chinese versions. EMUI 10.0.0.171 addresses 5 critical and 9 high-level CVEs though, which is identical to the fixes that EMUI 10.0.0.175 and EMUI 10.0.0.176 bring.
