The Axon 20 5G's launch reveals international pricing for the world's first under-display camera phone
ZTE's groundbreaking Axon 20 5G has now seen its first launch outside its native China. It now lists the under-display device in black on its global site, ztedevices.com, for US$449 (and also possibly shipping costs). However, enthusiasts willing to throw that much cash down to click that order button may find it's not quite that straightforward.
For one, this new sales page is only applicable to a limited number of national markets: those of the EU, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Indonesia, Macao, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
For another, ZTE has in its wisdom decided to implement an invite system to buy the phone. Furthermore, one of these invitations is only accessed by filling out an online questionnaire on the Axon 20 5G and its stand-out feature (most of the answers to which are found in its product description, and the rest of which appear to be what the OEM most wants to hear.).
This process also includes submitting an email address, to which the invite will be sent within about 72 hours pending approval of your answers on ZTE's part. On the othe hand, you do at least get a free pair of "TWS earphone" with your eventual purchase.
Therefore, a potential buyer gets an impromptu cooling-off period to decide whether they really want first-gen under-display camera tech in their life or not.
