The German developer Limbic Entertainment is celebrating a major Steam success with Corsair Cove
Steam's gaming charts have delivered some surprises, at least in Germany. Corsair Cove, a pirate-themed city builder, currently ranks ahead of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced on Steam. Meanwhile, Nintendo's new Switch 2 shooter Splatoon Raiders has claimed the top spot on the console charts, fueling the next major gaming craze.

Germany's gaming market has produced several surprises this week. In the official retail sales charts, Nintendo's latest paint-based shooter, Splatoon Raiders, has made a major impact. The spin-off, aimed specifically at solo players and small teams, debuted at No. 1 on Nintendo Switch 2 and also topped the overall cross-platform ranking. That puts the colorful title ahead of the major pirate release Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.

Ubisoft's remake remains the clear leader on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, but the PC rankings look very different. In Germany's digital Steam charts, the well-reviewed Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has fallen to sixth place. Two new releases have taken the lead instead, pushing established titles such as Palworld and Cyberpunk 2077 further down the ranking.

The biggest surprise on Steam is newcomer Corsair Cove. The city-building strategy game from Hesse-based developer Limbic Entertainment debuted in second place, behind perennial favorite Counter-Strike 2. The city builder, which tasks players with constructing pirate settlements vertically, has received very positive reviews and appears to be resonating with Germany's PC gaming community. Mistfall Hunter debuted close behind in third place. The challenging PvPvE extraction RPG brings the familiar loot-and-escape formula to a dark fantasy setting focused on melee combat, immediately securing a top-three position.

While Steam's rankings are changing rapidly, German PC gamers shopping at traditional retailers continue to favor familiar titles. Farming Simulator 25 remains firmly in first place on the PC chart this week, followed by Gothic 1 Remake. The console charts show a similar pattern among long-running favorites: GTA 5 retains the top spot on PlayStation 4, while sandbox classic Minecraft leads the rankings on the original Nintendo Switch.
