Summerhouse is currently down to $2.49 on Steam until August 13. This comes after a 50% discount off its already low $4.99 list price. While that figure matches the lowest SteamDB has recorded for the game, though the superlative does need an asterisk. The tiny builder has cycled through discounts almost continuously since launch, and 50% is a tier it has hit before, which means it's not a one-off.

Friedemann's game asks very little of you. You can pick one of four settings — desert, meadow, city or mountain — choose a time of day, and assemble houses from a parts library of walls, windows, doors and clutter. There is no resource system, failure state, or progression to grind. You cannot win, and the good thing is that game never pretends otherwise.

Friedemann co-founded Berlin studio Grizzly Games and worked on Islanders and Superflight, both successful games which stripped their genres down to one satisfying loop. Summerhouse is his first solo release, and it does the same to city building. Publisher Future Friends Games has also built a catalogue of comparable small-scope work, including Omno and Exo One.

Roughly 3,000 Steam reviews sit near 89% positive, and the complaints, while scattered, are worth looking at. The object library can feel sparse faster than players want, and color customization covers only some pieces. At $2.49, it's far from a dealbreaker, but it is worth knowing you are buying an afternoon or two of building instead of a hundred hours.

The most recent patch came through on July 21, 2026. The game runs on Windows and macOS with full controller support, covering DualShock and DualSense pads, plus Steam Cloud saves and family sharing. SteamSpy estimates between 100,000 and 200,000 owners.
