Over the course of its spring showcase, Japanese tech giant Sony has not only unveiled a brand-new streaming handheld called PlayStation 'Project Q', but the company also released a fresh gameplay video of perhaps its most eagerly awaited exclusive title of 2023. As expected, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 delivers graphical fireworks on PS5, but developer Insomniac Games has yet to set a specific release date.
Over ten minutes of real gameplay footage from Marvel's Spider-Man 2 served as the highlight of this year's event, which is why Sony saved it until the very end of the hour-long livestream. Gamers who have missed the showcase can rewatch the trailer below or on YouTube. Players of the first game will already be familiar with Peter Parker and Miles Morales, both of which will be part of Spider-Man 2 as players will be able to seamlessly switch between the two characters while the action unfolds.
Just like the critically acclaimed predecessor, the new gameplay video shows that Spider-Man 2 will still include suspenseful stealth scenes as well as breathtaking chases with the accomplices of villain Kraven the Hunter, whose appearance in New York City was announced in a separate cinematic trailer. Although the gameplay is only available in 1080p at this point, the level of detail shown in the video suggests that Spider-Man 2 will likely be another visual treat that fully utilizes the PS5’s graphics power. Unfortunately, Sony has yet to reveal a precise release date as the company still only refers to “Fall 2023” in this regard.
