Sony's PlayStation Showcase was host to quite a few surprises and an equal share of disappointments. Highly-anticipated titles such as the Metal Gear Solid trilogy, Alan Wake 2, Dragon's Dogma 2 and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 may have stolen the show, but there was something in store for Assassin's Creed enthusiasts, too. Ubisoft has shown off some Assassin's Creed Mirage gameplay and revealed its launch date.
The game will be playable across all platforms (PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One and Ubisoft+) on October 12, 2023. It continues upon the events of Assassin's Creed Valhalla by putting the player in Basim's shoes. Assassin's Creed Mirage is set in Baghdad, twenty years after the previous game's events. Overall, its aesthetic is a callback to older Assassin's Creed games. Long-time fans of the franchise will be pleased to know Ubisoft has hidden references to previous games throughout the map.
Some old mechanics, such as the ability to vault over objects, make a comeback in Assassin's Creed Mirage. Ubisoft has even torn a page out of Splinter Cell's playbook by letting players assassinate multiple targets simultaneously. The game is now up for pre-order on all major platforms. Those who choose to pick it up early will get a bonus quest titled "Forty Thieves".
