A Croatian retailer has confirmed European pricing for the WF-1000XM5 ahead of the device's official release. To recap, Sony hinted earlier this week that 'the best silence drops' on July 24 at 16:00. While the company has not explicitly referred to the WF-1000XM5 in its teasers, it teased that it would introduce a device with '5' in its name on its Japanese language Twitter page.
As the screenshot below shows, Sancta Domenica has listed the WF-1000XM5 for €319, matching earlier leaks. Thus, it appears that Sony has settled on a 14.3% price increase between the WF-1000XM4 and WF-1000XM5. However, retailers have now reduced the WF-1000XM4 below €190, with Amazon charging €188.50 for the earbuds in Germany. In other words, the WF-1000XM5 will start at nearly 70% more than for what its predecessors currently sell.
Incidentally, the retailer includes the model number WF1000XM5B.CE7, which correlates with a support listing that leaked last month. Sony will also offer the WF-1000XM5 in silver, pictured above. Sporting a revised design, the WF-1000XM5 will contain new larger drivers than the WF-1000XM4, branded 'Dynamic Driver X', while weighing about 20% less. Sony is rumoured to make a few other changes between generations as well, including faster wired charging. It remains to be seen how well Sony has distinguished the WF-1000XM5 from the WF-1000XM4 though, which still sits atop of best-of lists nearly two years after its release.
