Silicon Power has launched its fastest PCIe 5.0 SSD yet, the XPower XS90, delivering up to 14,300 MB/s read speeds and 13,400 MB/s writes. Designed for AI workloads, gamers, and professional creators, the drive pairs LPDDR4 DRAM caching with up to 4 TB of PCIe 5-protocol storage in an M.2 2280 form factor.

Silicon Power has officially revealed its fastest SSD yet, the XPower XS90 PCIe Gen 5 x4. The new storage solution is aimed at gamers, professional content creators, and users running AI workloads.

PCIe 5.0 speeds with LPDDR4 DRAM caching

The XPower XS90 has a PCIe Gen 5 x4 interface and is built using TSMC’s advanced 6 nm process. Silicon Power claims the new SSD is capable of up to 14,300 MB/s read speeds and 13,400 MB/s write speeds. The drive’s integrated LPDDR4 DRAM cache delivers rapid responsiveness and minimal latency, whether users are in the middle of an AAA game, training AI models, or rendering a high-resolution video.

Silicon Power also states that the XPOWER XS90 is optimized to draw low power in both laptop and desktop configurations.

Compact design and wide compatibility

The XPower XS90 is offered in 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB storage tiers. There is no heatsink in the SSD, but it allows users to “bring your own cooling solution.” The compact design also means it can easily fit into laptop spaces.

Future-ready storage for demanding workloads

The XPower XS90 supports the NVMe 2.0 protocol (backwards compatible with older NVMe specification versions), and Silicon Power offers a 5-year limited warranty. With its specs, it easily ranks among the most capable PCIe 5.0 SSDs announced and should be able to handle the next wave of AI and intensive computing tasks.
