Samsung's Galaxy S21 Ultra has battery drain issues

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra facing battery problems
What appears to be a widespread issue is affecting Galaxy S21 Ultra devices and looks like the camera app is the culprit. In some cases, the battery drain can go as far as 21 percent in seven hours and only 15 minutes of screen time. Sadly, the regular battery stats monitor does not detect anything wrong.

Hardware-wise, there is no doubt that Samsung's Galaxy S21 Ultra is a great device. However, it looks like the software that runs on it is causing serious problems once again. This time, it's a new DrainGate, as revealed by multiple user reports that were recently posted on the popular XDA Forums.

According to the aforementioned reports, the camera app is draining the battery when the phone is idle and the user is simply walking around. When the phone simply lays on a table, nothing happens. The cause seems to be the camera app, which wakes up the device each time motion is detected. The results are mild to severe and are based on the owner's Karma, fate, or simply random as far as anyone can tell at this stage.

For example, a user reported a 21 percent battery drain that involved only 15 minutes of screen time and seven hours of idle time. Unfortunately, the problem is that detecting this problem with the regular battery stats monitor is impossible. However, third-party free app GSam Battery Monitor can be used to track down this issue.

Right now, there is no official fix and Samsung still has to come out with a statement regarding this problem and any possible workarounds that can be used until the software patch for it arrives.
