More Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4 models land at the FCC, confirming round display
Three additional Samsung smartwatches have appeared on the FCC, bringing the total to five so far. Yesterday, the FCC published documentation for SM-R880 and SM-R885, which it has now followed with SM-R870, SM-R875 and SM-R890. The SM-R880 and SM-R885 are presumed to be Wi-Fi-only, and LTE versions of the Galaxy Watch 4, or Galaxy Watch4 as Samsung will probably stylise the name.
By contrast, the SM-R890 should be the Wi-Fi-only edition of the larger Galaxy Watch 4. You can read more about the expected sizes of Samsung's next-generation smartwatches in our corresponding article. Additionally, SM-R870 and SM-R875 should correspond to the Wi-Fi-only and LTE versions of the smaller Galaxy Watch Active 4, the other smartwatch series that Samsung is thought to be launching this year. A bigger Galaxy Watch Active 4 should be in tow too, available in Wi-Fi-only and LTE models also.
Unsurprisingly, the FCC's documents do not offer many details about the SM-R870, SM-R875 and SM-R890 beyond basic information about Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. However, their arrival at the agency implies that Samsung is close to announcing them. Samsung will announce its 'New Watch Experience' on June 28, so we should hear something about new Galaxy Watches and more about the revised Wear OS platform before the end of the month.
