Samsung Unpacked August 3 event expected to see Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3 and Galaxy Watch 4 series unveiled
Samsung is tipped to launch its latest flagship devices on August 3 according to Max Weinbach of Android Police. This aligns with the latest tips from Jon Prosser who also expects Samsung to release its latest devices in August. According to Prosser, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 will then hit the market following the event on August 27. The Galaxy Watch 4 series could launch earlier on August 11.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to be Samsung’s most advanced foldable to date. All rumors point to it offering the first under-display camera (UDC) from Samsung in a smartphone along with support for Samsug’s S-Pen. The latter feature seems a real possibility given Samsung has opted to skip the Galaxy Note series this year due to chip supply constraints.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is also expected to refine its formula which includes adding a larger secondary display for notifications. There haven’t been any rumors pointing to it also supporting an S-Pen, and given the way it folds, there would be substantially less space within it to house a stylus. Both foldables are expected to feature Snapdragon 888 SoCs at a minimum with the Snapdragon 888+ a possibility for at least one of the devices.
Although Prosser has experienced some spectacular rumor fails recently, including the prediction that Apple would launch new MacBook Pro models at WWDC, he is generally more hit than miss. Regardless of the specific dates mentioned by both Weinbach and Prosser, August is almost certainly the launch window as it has been in previous years.
