Latest Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 leaks deliver good and bad news for expectant fans
A couple of new leaks concerning the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 (Galaxy Watch4) and Galaxy Watch Active 4 (Watch Active4) have offered up some additional details about the next generation of smartwatches coming from the popular South Korean OEM. The latest tidbit, provided by Tron on Twitter, shows eight entries for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 registered on a database for a Korean telecommunications carrier. Four entries are for unlocked models whereas the other four are for carrier-specific versions.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 are registered on the database under their model names and sizes, which slightly differ from a previous report:
- Watch Active4: SM-R865N, 39 mm
- Watch Active4: SM-R875N, 43 mm
- Watch4: SM-R885N, 41 mm
- Watch4: SM-R895N, 45 mm
On top of these details, Tron has also provided the unfortunate news that neither the Galaxy Watch 4 nor the Watch Active 4 will sport a non-invasive blood glucose level monitor. This will be a disappointment to many smartwatch fans who are looking forward to one of the big tech companies providing a device with such a useful sensor.
Along with the lack of a blood sugar monitor, it appears both the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 will operate on WearOS. This has been rumored for quite a while now, with scoured data throwing up a similar suggestion that Tizen would be abandoned for the 2021 Galaxy Watch and Watch Active devices. But there is good news to be had, as the same tipster (sourcing the information from Korean-language site Money Today) has revealed that the new Samsung smartwatches could be released around July or August.
