Samsung inadvertantly confirms the Galaxy A90 will feature a notchless Infinity display
Samsung’s smartphones benefit from the company’s display division which has been churning out some simply stunning Super AMOLED displays in recent times. The trend over the past 12-24 month, however, has seen smartphone bezels become increasingly scant leaving little room for front-facing cameras. Thankfully, Samsung has avoided the large ugly iPhone X-like notch on its devices with its Infinity O, Infinity U and Infinity V displays which leave minimal cutouts for cameras.
The latest of its Infinity displays was recently seen with the official launch of the Galaxy Fold which features an Infinity Fold display. A fresh leak on Samsung’s Indonesian website looks as though the company has spoiled the launch of its notchless New Infinity display. The forthcoming Galaxy A90 has already been rumored to forgo the notch to deliver Samsung’s first pop-up front facing camera on a smartphone. The leaked image of what looks to be a forthcoming A30 or A50 also includes a small footnote that reads “Notchless Infinity screen only available on Galaxy A90.”
Faced with declining smartphone sales over the past 12 months, Samsung smartphone chief DJ Koh promised last year that the company would start debuting new features on its mid-range phones instead of reserving these just for flagship device launches only. For example, the mid-range Galaxy A7 was its first smartphone to launch with three rear cameras, something only later seen on the recently launched Galaxy S10+ flagship.
