According to a new report, Samsung is gearing up to release a new mid-range phone, the Galaxy A50, sometime this year. The device will feature the Infinity-O display expected to be seen on the upcoming Galaxy S10 phones, and will be powered by Samsung's 10nm Exynos 9610.

Samsung released quite a number of Galaxy A phones in 2018. The company is set to keep up that performance this year, with a new report touting the South Korean giant's plans to release a Galaxy A50 later this year, with a few details of the device revealed.

According to the source, the Galaxy A50 will feature Samsung's new Infinity-O punch-hole. The device is expected to, like most Samsung devices, feature an AMOLED display.

  • 6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • 64/128 GB of storage
  • 4000 mAh battery
  • 24 MP primary
  • Exynos 9610
  • Android Pie

While Samsung is yet to release any device with this naming format, this isn’t the first time word of a Galaxy A50 has surfaced. Back in November, there were reports that Samsung was working on an A40, A50, A60, et cetera. Some devices in the series were expected to sport LCD displays instead of Samsung’s traditional AMOLED. Keeping in line with that, the recently-launched Galaxy A8s did, indeed, feature an LCD display, so it would appear that those initial rumors had some substance to them.

The Galaxy A50 is expected to be launched after the S10 phones.
