A few days ago, it was reported that Samsung plans to offer a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra thanks to info posted by the manufacturer on its blog. Now, Samsung has clarified that the statement was an error and that won't be happening.
In a report by Android Authority, the statement mentioning a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra (available to pre-order on Amazon for $1,299.99) made on Samsung's Insights blog appears to be a mistake as Samsung informed them that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will not support S Pen Bluetooth controls regardless of the S Pen used with it
What this means is that Samsung will not be adding Bluetooth controls to the S Pen menu of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and if this isn't happening, then there will be no point releasing a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen for the phone nor will owners be able to purchase a Bluetooth S Pen like the S Pen Pro to use with it.
Samsung disclosed to Android Authority that it will correct the blog post to remove the message, and when we checked we noticed the entire section talking about the Bluetooth capabilities of the S Pen has been removed, including the statement that a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be sold separately.
Samsung removing Bluetooth features for the S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra raises new questions. Will the Galaxy S Ultra do a u-turn and lose the integrated S Pen, or worse, lose the S Pen functionality entirely? Considering Samsung revealed to Android Authority that the S Pen's Bluetooth features such as Air Actions are not that popular, it could have also carried out a research to determine if people actually want S Pen support on the Ultra series.
Another question it raises is if the removal of Bluetooth features on the S Pen will cascade to the Galaxy Tab models which have S Pen support. That seems plausible considering the S Pen Creator Edition released in late 2023 doesn't have support for Bluetooth features. With time, the answers to these questions will be known.
