The Galaxy S25 Ultra is Samsung's top of the line smartphone. It boasts a refined design that is lighter, slimmer, and more comfortable to hold. There are also more than a few technical upgrades including a larger screen, a new processor, and a new ultrawide angle camera. Surprisingly, the Galaxy S25 Ultra also features a downgrade, which is that it comes with a non-Bluetooth S Pen, a departure from the Bluetooth S Pen of its predecessor.
Some fans of the Galaxy Ultra series have derided Samsung's decision about the decision to ship the Galaxy S25 Ultra with a downgraded S Pen, but it appears the decision, unsurprisingly, was made from a business standpoint. This is because Samsung plans to sell separately to customers a Bluetooth version of the stylus.
Evidence of a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra comes from an official Samsung blog detailing how the S Pen can be used to boost productivity. The post mentions that the Bluetooth-enabled S Pen can be used as a remote control within select apps such as the camera. However, it added that the pen is now sold separately.
As at the time of writing, the Bluetooth-enabled S Pen isn't available on Samsung's own sites but the standard one which has the model number EJ-PS938
is listed for $49.99 in the US and £49 in the UK. This is the same price Samsung sells the Bluetooth-enabled S Pen for the Galaxy S24 Ultra (curr. available on Amazon for $1,119.99). The S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra is priced at €54.90 in Germany, but there's a 50% discount that brings the price down to €27.45.
The Bluetooth-enabled S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to cost more. However, it remains to be seen if customers will be willing to purchase it considering last year's phone came with a Bluetooth stylus free of charge, and now Samsung wants customers to pay for a stylus with the same features.
