91Mobiles, @OnLeaks and Zouton have revealed two of Samsung's next flagship tablets, the Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8 Ultra. Arguably, the former looks like the spitting image of its predecessor, with barely any visual differences between the two. On the other hand, the Tab S8 Ultra features a tweaked design and much thinner bezels than previous Galaxy Tab devices.
However, Samsung interrupts the thinner bezels with a notch, which may divide opinion. Conversely, the back of the Tab S8 Ultra stays true to Samsung's design language for its Galaxy Tabs. Specifically, the tablet has two rear-facing cameras, antenna lines and a magnetic holder for an S Pen.
According to OnLeaks, the Tab S8 Ultra measures 325.8 x 207.9 x 5.4 mm, making it an exceptionally thin tablet and 0.3 mm thinner than the Galaxy Tab S7 series. While these dimensions are also about 41 mm taller and 23 mm wider than the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus, currently the largest tablet that Samsung sells. The larger frame accommodates a 14.6-inch AMOLED display though, 2.2-inches larger than the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus' display.
By contrast, the Galaxy Tab S8 is thought to measure 253.75 x 165.3 x 6.24 mm. With the chassis sits an 11-inch display surrounded by uniform bezels. Ultimately, it looks like Samsung has recycled the Galaxy Tab S7, likely with a more powerful SoC, among other incremental improvements.
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Tab S8 series in early 2022. Reputedly, the Tab S8 and Tab S8 Ultra will arrive alongside the Galaxy S22 series, including the Galaxy S22 Ultra. It is unclear if Samsung plans on bringing a Galaxy Tab S8+ to market; the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra may well be the company's iPad Pro 12.9 challenger for next year.
