The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to bring some significant camera upgrades compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but it is unclear exactly what these upgrades will be. The phone is said to carry either three or four cameras, including a 200 MP primary and a 50 MP ultrawide.

There have been many leaks and rumors regarding the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and its camera upgrades. A more recent one hinted at the phone featuring dual 200 MP cameras on the back, but the latest rumor seems to debunk that theory. It states that the phone will come with one 200 MP camera, which also aligns with some of the other leaks surrounding the phone. For now, Samsung has not shared anything about its next flagship, so this piece of information should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Last week, a supposed “Exclusive leak” surfaced on X stating that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature a 200 MP primary camera as well as a 200 MP telephoto camera, along with a 50 MP ultrawide shooter. However, a new leak from @PandaFlashPro on X claims that the phone will not carry two 200 MP cameras, but will only have one. The reason for this supposed downgrade is limitations of the SoC.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is believed to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, the successor to the Gen 1 chip in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. As powerful as the second-generation chip will be, it won’t be able to support dual 200 MP cameras, according to the leaker.

There have been contradictory rumors about the number of cameras the Galaxy S26 Ultra will come with, as some have claimed a four-sensor arrangement while others hint at three sensors. The configuration, however, should be something on the lines of a 200 MP primary camera, a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP telephoto with 3.5x or 4x optical zoom, and another possible 50 MP camera with 8x zoom. It is unclear which of the two telephoto cameras will be absent from the phone, if there are three cameras in total, but the 8x telephoto seems more likely to be omitted. @PandaFlashPro has also claimed that there will not be an 8x telephoto camera despite previous leaks.
