Samsung’s next-gen mid-range phone is at the starting blocks: The company is currently showcasing the Galaxy M56 5G on a teaser website, confirming key camera specifications and various improvements.

Samsung has published a teaser page on Amazon India for the mid-range Galaxy M56 5G ahead of its official unveiling on Thursday, 17 April. The Galaxy M56 5G appears to be more than just a variant of the Galaxy A56 5G (approx. $414 on Amazon). Whilst slightly thinner at 7.2 mm, the latest addition to the Galaxy M series also has a more dated design.

The Galaxy M56 5G drops Samsung’s “Key Island” design in favour of a completely flat right side for the buttons. Its pill-shaped camera module visually separates the 2 MP macro camera from the 8 MP ultrawide camera and 50 MP main shooter, which comes with optical image stabilisation. Although two of the three cameras have a lower resolution than their counterparts on the Galaxy A56, Samsung still promotes this triple-camera setup as the “Monster Camera”.

To justify using this label, Samsung highlights a special AI image processor designed to deliver low-light photos with accurate colours and minimal noise. Despite lacking a dedicated telephoto camera, the smartphone features a portrait mode with 2x digital zoom. It also supports a suite of AI image editing tools, including Object Eraser.

The 12 MP selfie camera is capable of recording 10-bit HDR videos. Samsung calls the front camera “flagship grade”, which might be accurate considering that the company’s current flagship, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, is equipped with a fairly outdated 12 MP front camera. Samsung claims the sAMOLED display is 33% brighter and has 36% slimmer bezels compared to the Galaxy M55. The screen is protected from scratches and falls by the durable Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ – a rarity in this price segment.
