Just a few weeks after hitting store shelves, Samsung's Galaxy A36 can now be purchased for a bit less. Sporting a refreshed design, a larger and brighter display, faster charging, and longer software support, it makes for a good budget smartphone.

Despite the fact that the Samsung Galaxy A36 has only been available to buy in the US for a few weeks, it has now received a price slash, albeit for a limited time.

The middle child of a trio of new Galaxy A devices that include the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A26, the Galaxy A36 launched with a $399.99 price tag on it. Now, Amazon and Best Buy both have it for $339.99 — $60 or 15% off its launch price.

When compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy A36 boasts a number of upgrades. It has a larger and brighter 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor paired with a larger vapor chamber, and a 5,000mAh battery that charges faster at 45W. It ships with One UI 7 based on Android 15 and even has longer software support — six years of OS upgrades and security updates, up from the 4 years of OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates of the Galaxy A35.

In addition to these technical upgrades, the Galaxy A36 also has a few design changes such as a redesigned camera island, a slimmer and lighter body, and Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on both sides. It also keeps the IP67 dust and water resistance rating of the Galaxy A35.

Unfortunately, not everything is great about the Galaxy A36 5G. The rear camera configuration hasn't changed from that of the Galaxy A35. There's also the fact that it is only available in the US with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which is paltry when rivals such as the Nothing Phone 3a, which costs a little more at $379, has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. On top of that, Samsung decided to remove the microSD card slot.

If these shortcomings are not deal breakers, then you might as well save some money by grabbing the Galaxy A36 at its discounted price. Do note that Amazon has the Galaxy A36 in Balck and Lavender while Best Buy has it in Black, Lavender, and Lime.
