Nothing has unrolled the curtains on the Phone 3a series. This new lineup brings two smartphones: a standard and a Pro. Among the two, the non-Pro appears to be a feature-packed device with an attractive launch price in the EU. At least, that's what the specs are suggesting.
Among the highlights is the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, a step up from the Dimensity 7200 Pro that powered the Phone 2a. It's paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, and Nothing notes that this SoC inside the device has received Nothing OS-specific optimizations, which should lead to a better overall performance.
As for the front, the Nothing Phone 3a sports a 6.77-inch screen. This AMOLED panel has a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 1,000 Hz touch sampling rate in the gaming mode, and a peak brightness rating of 3,000 nits. The display also houses a fingerprint sensor and a 32 MP selfie camera.
On the back, the Nothing Phone 3a sports a 50 MP primary camera with f/1.88 aperture. It's a Samsung sensor with OIS and a 1/1.57-inch sensor size. This primary shooter is paired with a 50 MP Samsung telephoto sensor, which supports EIS. It's said to offer 2x optical zoom and 4x in-sensor zoom. Both these are said to be an upgrade from the predecessor.
The last camera on the back is an 8 MP Sony ultrawide sensor, which appears to be a downgrade. Per the spec sheet, it offers a 120-degree FOV and has an f/2.2 aperture. Worth noting that the camera setup of the Nothing Phone 3a is backed by the company's TrueLens Engine 3.0, which brings features like Portrait Optimizer, Auto Tone, and Motion Capture.
Regarding the battery, it has a rated capacity of 5,000 mAh and supports 50 W fast charging (65 W Anker Nano curr. $29.99 on Amazon). Nothing says that the Phone 3a can get from 1 to 100% in just 56 minutes. Other notable specs of this new mid-range smartphone include an IP64 rating, Panda Glass protection, and 4K video recording capability at 30 FPS. Its base variant with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage costs €329 in the EU, while the top-end option costs €379. Pre-orders start today, March 4 with actual sales and deliveries commencing on the 11th of March 2025.
