Nubia has returned to MWC with another innovative smartphone, having released the Z70 Ultra (curr. $749 on Amazon) late last year. To recap, the company brought the Nubia Flip 5G to MWC 2024 with a significantly lower price point than existing clamshell foldables. This time, it has presented the Focus Ultra 2 5G ahead of its global launch later this year.
In short, the Focus Ultra 2 should replace the Focus Pro 5G. Arriving in the wake of the Focus 2 leaking in December with a different design, the Focus Ultra 2 utilises a Unisoc T760 chipset that contains ARM Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 CPU cores based on a 6 nm manufacturing process. Nubia adds that it complements this mid-range chipset with a 5,000 mAh battery capable of 33 W wired charging, as well as a 6.8-inch AMOLED display that resolves at 1080p and 120 Hz with a 32 MP front-facing camera.
Arguably, a star of the show is the Focus 2 Ultra's rear camera system, which centres around a 50 MP primary sensor with an f/1.47 aperture and a 1/1.55-inch optical format. Although not necessarily noteworthy in its own right, this camera works with a physical dial located behind the device's camera housing that can adjust zoom levels or preset filters.
The Focus 2 Ultra also supports a dedicated camera grip, much like the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. However, the Focus 2 Ultra will be available for €299 (~$314), €1,200 (~$1,258) less than the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Nubia will reveal more details about the Focus 2 Ultra tomorrow during an official launch event.
