Samsung has announced a new software update for the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, which remains its flagship pair of TWS earbuds. In a press release, the company explains that it will begin distributing said update within the next few weeks, although it notes that availability may differ by carrier, market and model. In any case, the update introduces upgrades to the earbuds' transparency mode, which Samsung markets as 'Amplify ambient sound'.
Previously, it was possible to adjust the transparency mode on the Galaxy Buds2 Pro in three steps. However, Samsung has now expanded this option to five steps, citing a desire to help 'those who are hard of hearing better enjoy the sounds of the world around them'. As Samsung's promotional images show, you can also adjust ambient sound levels independently for each earbud. Samsung only allows the 'ambient sound tone' level to be set on a global level, though.
Still, the ambient sound tone functionality provides the option of reproducing sounds more softly, which should reduce the effect of high-pitched tones. Samsung emphasises that the Galaxy Buds2 Pro is not a medical device though, nor is it suitable as a replacement for hearing aids.
