Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy A22 4G
If this is what you think sometimes and are looking for a mid-range smartphone without support for the newest mobile communication standard, Samsung has an offer for you: The Galaxy A22 4G is more compact than its 5G version, but also slower at a similar price. So is the 4G smartphone only something for 5G fiends?

Samsung has really been putting in the work when it comes to the current Galaxy A lineup. Pretty much every model from the family recently has been solid and generally competitive in one way or another. The same is mostly true for the Galaxy A22 as well. The LTE Galaxy A22 is a well-put-together device, with a solid-performing AMOLED panel, complete with 90Hz refresh rate and straight-forward refresh rate handling (even if lower-res). The Galaxy A22 also manages great battery endurance from its 5,000 mAh battery, has a surprisingly feature-rich One UI 3.1 Core skin running on top of Android 11 and uses the decent, if unimpressive MediaTek Helio G80 chipset to its full potential. It has its fair share of issues and deficiencies as well, though. The plastic body feels a bit hollow at the back, it lacks any formal ingress protection or a "brand name" designation for its protective display glass. There are also no light or proximity sensors onboard the A22; charging is pretty slow, and the single bottom-firing loudspeaker is unimpressive.

So, let’s wrap up this review of the Samsung Galaxy A22. Should you buy it? I think the answer is region-specific. That’s because the A22 costs the same as the M32 here in Nepal, so in this case, my recommendation would be to go with the A22 because it’s better-optimized, has a better camera, and more importantly, it feels like you are holding a premium phone. However, if you are living in India, the A22 at INR 18,500 is a bit on the expensive side which makes it an easy no for me. Plus, Samsung has also launched the costlier 5G variant of A22, which is even more ridiculously priced. And like I said in my Poco M3 Pro review, the sad truth with almost every mid-range 5G phone right now is that they are priced quite absurdly and you might want to skip them until and unless you absolutely want 5G.

Samsung Galaxy A22 is a cheaper alternative to Galaxy M32. Although OIS on the primary camera steals the show, the camera setup is largely capped with the potential of the underwhelming processor aka G80 SoC. A slightly powerful processor and an FHD+ display could have made a lot of difference. For Rs 18,499/-, the device feels a bit pricey since you can get a powerful processor and FHD+ displays on many of its rivals at this price tag.

It is difficult to recommend that the overall features of both the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G and A22 4g smartphones devices overlap. But if you are looking for better camera technology, you might prefer the A22 4G. But on the other hand, if you are considering a phone for the long term, then the Galaxy A22 5G could be a great option in that case. However, you will get standard camera results. It’s not like there are flaws in both models, but minimal ones for the superb privileges. On that note, there is always room for an alternative. If you’re looking for the most valuable phone, check out the Realme X7 smartphone a worthwhile decision.
