Samson launches on Steam on April 8 – why it’s not just a GTA clone

Samson takes players to the grimy city of Tyndalston, shaped by violence and crime. There, they step into the shoes of Samson McCray, a former enforcer and getaway driver who returns home and comes under massive pressure after a botched job. He is deep in debt, while his sister Oonagh is being used by criminals as leverage.
The title combines an open-world structure, brutal hand-to-hand combat and vehicle action with constant time and debt pressure. The flow of the game is shaped above all by three systems: Action Points, a daily debt target and pressure from the police. Players can only accept a limited number of jobs per day, but still have to earn enough money to avoid rising interest without drawing too much attention. Instead of relying on a classic checklist-style open world, Liquid Swords is aiming for a denser structure in which every decision is meant to have tangible consequences.

This makes Samson look like an interesting mix of different crime-game elements. The urban setting, the vehicles and the criminal underworld evoke GTA, while the strong emphasis on close-quarters combat and raw violence is more reminiscent of Sleeping Dogs. With the constant debt pressure, however, Liquid Swords brings an idea of its own to the center of the game.
Samson will be released on Steam on April 8, 2026. A price has not yet been announced, but the game can already be added to your wishlist. Steam Deck compatibility is currently still listed as “Unknown.”
