With all the incredible fanfare surrounding the recent reveal of the new DualSense controller for the PS5, many may have missed some important details from Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Jim Ryan. The executive has offered reassurance that the PlayStation 5 will launch in Holiday 2020 and a look at the console will take place “in the coming months”.

We recently reported about the unveiling of the DualSense controller for the PS5 console, and there was a brief statement from SIE president Jim Ryan printed along with the details about the new accessory. However, while it seems every gamer and designer on the planet is either loving the controller or coming up with their own concept design of it, many fans may have overlooked the fact that Ryan actually offered a couple of other tidbits of crucial PS5-related information in his comments.

Firstly, the PlayStation boss said “as we head toward PS5’s launch in Holiday 2020”; there’s no businessese there or executive jargon, just a direct statement that shows PS5 fans currently don’t need to be concerned that a console release delay to 2021 is likely, whether because of the coronavirus pandemic or because of highly disputed rumors concerning the next-gen console’s alleged heating issues. So gamers can carry on saving their dollars and pennies for a year-end purchase.

Secondly, Ryan stated “We look forward to sharing more information about the PS5, including the console design, in the coming months.” It might not be an exact PS5 reveal date, but could it be a hint toward a June unveiling for the console? Sony has been carefully drip-feeding fans with information over the last few months, with the DualSense controller being this month’s big reveal so far. There might be a few more teases to come over the rest of April and throughout May, but a big June reveal for the PS5 could be on the cards.
