Sony unexpectedly announced the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller yesterday, but its design has had some unintended consequences. Not only did it cause its rival to trend on social media, but it has resulted in people making all kinds of unflattering comparisons.

As we have already covered, Sony revealed the DualSense yesterday, the controller for the upcoming PlayStation 5. Featuring adaptive triggers and a two-tone design, the DualSense has already inspired one designer to create a concept of the PlayStation 5 based around it. While the announcement of DualSense has sparked plenty of discussions online, it has had some unintended consequences.

On the one hand, it caused Xbox to trend on social media platforms like Twitter, not something that we imagine Sony would have envisaged. Additionally, there was no uptick in mentions about the PlayStation 5, PS5 or DualSense.

Browsing some of the associated tweets, it seems that plenty of people are comparing the DualSense to the white Xbox One controller. While this comparison is a superficial one in our opinion, other people have been questioning Sony's decision making. As the photos below demonstrate, some people have likened the DualSense to a Fisher-Price toy, a pair of dungarees or Marvin from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Overall, the DualSense does not look that different from the DS4, save for its new colour scheme. Regardless, we doubt that most gamers will care what their controller looks like anyway, so long as it is comfortable to use.
