Ruko might not be a particularly well-known brand, but the company has now released a new drone. As the name already suggests, the U11Mini is a compact and light quadcopter that weighs less than 249 grams, which is the legal limit in some countries. Although it’s easy to operate smaller drones, users should pay attention to and respect no-fly zones.
The drone is well-equipped and comes with a GPS module, which allows it to return to the starting point when the battery is running low, or at the push of a button when all pictures have been taken. The U11Mini can also follow predefined routes or track users or objects, so it’s not always necessary to fly it manually. According to the manufacturer, the drone can maintain a specific altitude thanks to a built-in barometer, while a ToF sensor contributes to gentle landings. Additionally, the Ruko drone can transmit images over a distance of up to 1.8 miles, which should only be achievable in perfect conditions. Obstacles can reduce this range. A remote control is included, but a smartphone has to be used as the display.
The camera has a resolution of 48 megapixels and features a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor. The gimbal promises good photos and videos even in motion or with a certain amount of wind. That said, pictures can be taken at 8K resolution, while videos max out at 4K at 30 fps. Ruko also advertises a fly time of up to 96 minutes with the included three batteries, which means that one full charge should last 32 minutes. A carrying case and spare rotors are also included in the box. The new drone is now orderable directly from the manufacturer for $235 with free shipping.
