RedmiBook 13 R laptop with AMD Ryzen 7 4700U delivers muted results on Geekbench 5 that leave it just keeping pace with the Intel Core i7-1065G7
A TIMI RedmiBook 13 R laptop has been put through its paces on Geekbench 5.1, with two separate records now being unearthed. The upcoming device from Xiaomi features an 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 4700U, 16 GB RAM (DDR4 @2666 MHz), and a 512 GB SSD (Intel 660p). We have already reported about other variants of the RedmiBook laptops, and this particular one has the motherboard name TIMI TM1955.
This version of the upcoming RedmiBook 13 laptop manages single-core scores of 1,135 points and 1,148 points, which unsurprisingly put it quite far behind the median score we have measured for the Ice Lake i7-1065G7 SoC, at 1,316 points. However, it’s well known that Intel parts generally perform better than AMD parts in single-core benchmarks. But the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U only delivers muted results in the multi-core test too, with a low 3,533 points in the first reported run and a much better 4,550 points in the latest run.
More can be expected from the 8-core Ryzen 7 4700U; looking through the Geekbench 5.1 results for this particular Renoir APU shows other laptops managing scores that are considerably higher. In fact, our median multi-core score for the quad-core Intel Core i7-1065G7 processor stands at 4,374 points. At least the second result from the RedmiBook 13 R seems to be more representative of its Ryzen 4000 processor’s capabilities.
The new RedmiBook laptops from Xiaomi should be released on May 26, and it seems it will be the expected comparatively low prices for the Ryzen 4000-powered RedmiBook 13, RedmiBook 14S, and RedmiBook 16 that will ensure their success or failure in the competitive laptop market.
