The Redmi 9 will launch soon, most likely in multiple markets
Redmi has been confirmed to have a phone called the 9 ready to go, thanks to new certifications by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), Wi-Fi Alliance and SIRIM. These leaks suggest that it has several region-specific variants, one of which may be destined for the Malaysian market.
The Redmi 9's debut has been made all but official thanks to a triple bill of new certifications for this phone. 2 of these new forms of documentation even cite this new successor to the cost-effective 8 by name. They also list no less than 5 slightly different model numbers for this same device, which are strongly indicative of regional variation.
These apparent choices of Redmi 9 are the M2004J19AG; M2004J19C; M2004J19I; M2004J19PI and M2004J19G. They may all be headed to distinct markets: for example, judging by an additional new approval from the regulator SIRIM, the last of these will launch in Malaysia.
Otherwise, these new leaks cannot tell us much beyond the relatively predictable aspects of the new 9. Accordingly, we now know it will be a phone with Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi up-to-ac and 4G/LTE. They also show that the device willl run a build of MIUI 11, which, even given the upcoming Redmi phone's probably budget nature, is vaguely disappointing.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
