The Redmi 10X 5G has posted another seemingly impressive AnTuTu score ahead of its expected release on May 26. Confirmed to feature OIS and to support up to 30x digital zoom, Xiaomi has also teased that the Redmi 10X series will include Gorilla Glass 5 and will be IP53 certified.

Xiaomi has already confirmed several aspects about the upcoming Redmi 10X series, including camera and display specifications. Now, the company has stated that the Redmi 10X series will feature Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and will be IP53 certified.

Gorilla Glass 5 should ensure that the Redmi 10X will survive "1.6 metre, shoulder-height drops onto hard, rough surfaces up to 80% of the time". Xiaomi also uses Gorilla Glass 5 on the Mi 10 series. By contrast, OEMs like Asus, OnePlus and Samsung have moved onto Gorilla Glass 6. Corning claims that its latest glass type offers "up to 2x better" protection from drops onto rough surfaces than Gorilla Glass 5 does.

It is worth bearing in mind that IP53 certification does not offer the same level of protection against dust and water as IP67 or IP68 do. IP53 means that the Redmi 10X series will be effective against the ingress of dust, but the devices will not offer complete protection against dust. Additionally, the Redmi 10X series will be protected against spraying water and will not offer protection against immersion of any depth.

Additionally, the Redmi 10X 5G has appeared on AnTuTu again, this time scoring 405,675 in V8.3.5 of the benchmark. This would seem to suggest that the MediaTek Dimensity 820 may get close to the performance of older flagship SoCs like the Exynos 9820 and Kirin 980. However, there have been suggestions that MediaTek may have overemphasised the performance of its SoCs in benchmark tests.

Xiaomi will announce the Redmi 10X series on May 26 at 14:00 China Standard Time (CST) (UTC+08:00). The series is expected to be joined by a refreshed RedmiBook lineup, which may include a RedmiBook 13, 13R, 14S, and RedmiBook 16.
