Updated | OPPO Reno4 and Reno4 Pro leak: Snapdragon 765G heads key specifications and hands-on photo reveals Reno Glow brand and unsightly camera bump

Update May 25: Renders and a short promo video of the OPPO Reno4 have been shared online (see below). The renders confirm there is no 3.5 mm jack present on the upcoming smartphones.

The OPPO Reno4 and OPPO Reno4 Pro are likely to be released soon as key specifications and a hands-on photo have now leaked on the Chinese social media website Weibo. It appears both variants will sport a Snapdragon 765G SoC but there are plenty of differences between the regular Reno4 and the Reno4 Pro, including camera equipment, RAM + storage variants, and display size (see table below). There had been some expectation that a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus chip could find its way on board, but that might be reserved for a later addition to the series.

The hands-on photo of the OPPO Reno4 smartphone shows the device from the rear, in a color that has been translated (via Sparrows News) as “Crystal Diamond Blue”. The brand “Reno Glow” can be seen running up the right-hand side while the main camera setup is located on the top left-hand side. The housing for the rear-facing camera system looks very clunky and may detract some smartphone users from making a purchase. The promo image (see below) for the “Crystal Diamond Red” Reno4 Pro shows just how egregious the camera sensors are.

No official release dates or prices have been offered for the OPPO Reno4 or Reno4 Pro in the Weibo leak; however, it has been speculated that the smartphones could be released in June. If fans can get past the unsightly camera housing, then it seems the OPPO Reno4 could offer something of a mixed bag for users. It appears that some are disappointed with the choice of a Snapdragon 765G processor (the OPPO Reno3 Pro 5G has the same SoC but the OPPO Reno3 5G has a Dimensity 1000L) while others are hopeful for a midrange price of around 3,000 yuan (~US$421).
