Redmi K100 Pro Max gets off to a flying start as first-day sales outpace predecessor

Redmi's new K100 Pro Max appears to have got off to a strong start in China. According to Xiaomi president Lu Weibing, first-day sales of the flagship smartphone reached 150% of those recorded by its predecessor, the Redmi K90 Pro Max, during its pre-order window. Weibing announced the result on Weibo, as spotted by MyDrivers. The company has not disclosed absolute first-day sales numbers, however, so the scale of the comparison remains unclear.
There is at least some third-party data that provides additional context for the Redmi K90 Pro Max's commercial performance. Chinese market-tracking figures reported by ITHome put cumulative K90 Pro Max sell-through at approximately724,800 units by the end of June 2026. An earlier snapshot put the same model at roughly 275,800 units by the end of 2025, suggesting the outgoing flagship continued selling in meaningful numbers well beyond its launch period. Redmi has not published a standalone first-day figure for the K90 Pro Max, so those numbers cannot be used to extrapolate an absolute first-day result for its successor.
The K100 Pro Max's stronger start is nevertheless notable given the less-than-ideal conditions surrounding the smartphone market. Memory and other component costs have risen substantially, putting pressure on manufacturers to either increase prices or make compromises elsewhere. Redmi has largely opted for the former with the K100 generation, although a launch promotion currently brings the K100 Pro Max down to CNY 4,199 from its regular CNY 4,499 starting price.
To recall, the Redmi K100 Pro Max is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and pairs the flagship SoC with an 185 Hz display. Redmi also equips the device with a massive 9,070 mAh battery, which the company touts as the largest it has fitted to one of its smartphones. Another unique addition is a 2.1-channel speaker system tuned by Bose, something that is seldom found even in high-end flagship devices. It is also a part of Redmi's attempt to distinguish the Pro Max from the regular Redmi K100 Pro.
The K100 Pro Max is officially confined to China for the time being, but international buyers interested in the hardware may not have to wait particularly long. Its K90 Pro Max predecessor appeared at import retailers almost immediately after its Chinese debut, and import availability for the new model is likely to follow. A more conventional global release could arrive later under Poco branding, with the K100 Pro Max expected to serve as the basis for a future Poco flagship, much as the K90 Pro Max did before it.
