Redmi has announced that it has sold more than 1 million units of its 12 and 12 5G Android 13-powered smartphones in India since their launch about a month ago in the market. The OEM hails the achievement of its "5G Revolution" in the same country, and attributes its success to the loyalty and support of its fans. Then again, the devices' reasonable prices and more or less up-to-date specs.
Xiaomi's main sub-brand Redmi has celebrated a milestone passed by its 12 series, a pair of Android smartphones with a variant powered by a 5G chipset. Their shipments have now gone into seven figures, despite having only been on sale since August 4, 2023 via channels such as Amazon.
The 12 5G is credited with fuelling Xiaomi India's "5G revolution" by debuting as India's "1st Phone" to combine a 120Hz Super AMOLED display with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC at a reasonable price, while the 4G/LTE-only 12 has proven popular by offering the same rear cameras set in a "Crystal Design" rear panel for even less. Both start for under INR 19,999 (~US$240) in India, although that is because they have base models with the increasingly outdated spec of 4GB in RAM.
Xiaomi has expressed appreciation for the "unwavering support, love, and trust" of India's Redmi fans in propelling the series to its current best-selling status. The OEM now plans to "forge new paths, break boundaries, and redefine the future of technology" in the future.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
