Realme announces an Android 13 closed beta program for the GT 2 Pro
Realme is now inviting applications to a new program open to users of the GT 2 Pro, the brand's first 2022 flagship smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. The device is currently on version 3.0 of its OEM's software, based on Android 12. However, some units in active use will be able to get more up to date than that soon.
The "Early Access" initiative, which seems to be Realme for 'closed public beta', offers a limited number of users "in small batches", and located in China or India thus far, the opportunity to test the brand's take on Android 13 thus far. Therefore, they may get the jump on others in terms of cutting-edge Realme features.
On the other hand, the OEM indicates that this version of Realme UI is still far from stable, as some third-party apps might crash or fail when Early Access enrollees try to use them, when they do not encounter bugs and stability issues - for example, the GT 2 Pro's normal DC-dimming spec is known to be broken in the current public beta build.
Then again, that kind of thing is just what Realme wants to hear about, via the Early Access program's dedicated feedback and bug-reporting channel, so that future versions of its Android 13 build will be public-channel stable. Interested GT 2 Pro users can find out how to use them, and how to apply to the new Early Access program, via the brand's new community website post.
