A fan is willing to pay millions of Euros to Ubisoft for the completion of The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake that was canceled earlier this year. Ubisoft is yet to respond to the offer.

Back in January, Ubisoft announced the cancellation of the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time that had been in development for over 5 years. The news was devastating for fans who were highly anticipating the game's release. Now, one fan wants Ubisoft to finish the game, and they are willing to pay for the development.

According to a post on Reddit, an unnamed fan is offering Ubisoft more than €5 million in financing for the resumption and completion of the project. In the letter shared on Reddit, the fan says their goal is not “financial profits, a share of the sales, or any rights over the intellectual property”, but to help make the game a reality.

The said fan admits that Ubisoft has the sole decision to resume development of the game, and do not wish to interfere with the creative direction or the company's decisions, but wishes to know if there's an official channel to tender their proposal to pay for the completion of the game.

The comments on Reddit range from the offer being a waste of money, a bad idea, to being a nice suggestion but a wrong approach. One comment says it will be impossible for Ubisoft to accept the offer since the game has been written off in their tax returns. There are also some who believe the whole thing is not true.

The Rogue Prince of Persia was the last Prince of Persia game, and it wasn't developed by Ubisoft.

However, one recurring suggestion is that Ubisoft should sell the Prince of Persia IP. The last game developed by Ubisoft was 2024's Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which was well-received but failed to meet Ubisoft's expectations, causing a sequel to be cancelled and the development team to be disbanded.

Then in 2025, Evil Empire released The Rogue Prince of Persia, a 2D side-scrolling game with roguelike elements much like the studio's previous game, Dead Cells. This title got positive reviews too, but received its last update on September 17, 2026. No new Prince of Persia titles have been announced, and Ubisoft's focus seems to be on Assassin's Creed.
