Switch 2 is heading for a strong year: A look ahead at 2027

Since its launch, the Switch 2 has faced plenty of criticism for its relatively limited selection of new exclusive games. However, things are looking promising for 2027. At least five Switch-exclusive titles are already on the horizon – and there's hope for a sixth. On top of that, several major third-party releases are also expected to make their way to Nintendo's console.
First up is Metroid Ravenous on January 28, bringing Samus Aran back for a classic 2D adventure. In spring, Kirby and the World Beyond will follow, sending Nintendo's beloved pink hero on a new 3D adventure.

Also announced for 2027 is the fantasy RPG Xenoblade Genesis, which is expected to mark a fresh start for the series, along with Pokémon Winds and Waves, which will let players explore an open island world. The recently delayed The Duskbloods, now scheduled for the first quarter of 2027, is the fifth exclusive currently on the calendar for next year.
Beyond Nintendo's own franchises, several promising third-party games are also heading to the Switch 2 next year. RPG fans in particular have plenty to look forward to, with Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Persona 4 Revival, Persona 6 and Kingdom Hearts IV on the horizon. Resident Evil Veronica is also expected to arrive.
Does Nintendo have another ace up its sleeve?
According to NateTheHate, an insider known for Nintendo leaks, a new 3D Mario game could also arrive in 2027. Rumors suggest it could be a sequel to Super Mario Odyssey, which launched on the original Switch in 2017. However, Nintendo has yet to officially confirm anything. Even without another Mario adventure, 2027 is already shaping up to be a promising year for Nintendo – and many fans on Reddit seem to agree.
