Popular Lord of the Rings RPG gets brand new expansion

ⓘ The Lord of the Rings Online
The Lord of the Rings Online’s latest expansion, The Wolves of Mordor, introduces the unexplored region of Draugardh, a post-war storyline involving Sauron’s surviving servants. It also introduces new character progression and housing companion systems, among other things.

Another new expansion has landed for The Lord of the Rings Online, namely The Wolves of Mordor. The 14th expansion takes players of the long-running free-to-play MMORPG into Draugardh, an unexplored territory beyond Gorgoroth. Set after the War of the Ring, its story revolves around the return of Sauron’s surviving servants, including werewolves seeking revenge against those responsible for his defeat. Players must track a released wolf-wraith while uncovering the region’s secrets and confronting its inhabitants.

Draugardh contains three distinct areas: Heledhris, Parth Rhavas and Nan Ogol. Alongside new enemies, including wolf-worshipping Easterlings, the expansion adds Survival Instincts, a progression system that lets players combine Tactics, Lessons, Skills and Enhancements to shape their characters. The update also introduces Neighbours, companions who can live in players’ homes and develop relationships through stories, gifts and daily missions. Their behavior is influenced by 20 personality traits and a changing mood system.

The expansion comes in three paid editions: Standard at $39.99, Collector’s at $79.99 and the Ultimate Fan Bundle at $129.99. Higher-priced editions add cosmetics, boosts, extra Neighbours and other bonuses, making the more complete packages considerably more expensive.
