Until now, GOG has primarily been known as a platform for DRM-free games. However, the company is now looking to expand its business by entering the publishing market, with several games already lined up.

Following its separation from CD Projekt at the end of 2025, GOG is now heading in a new direction, effectively becoming a competitor to its former parent company. Under the name Retrovibe by GOG, the company is joining forces with established indie publisher Retrovibe. Both companies are backed by CD Projekt co-founder Michał Kiciński, who bought back GOG late last year and is also among Retrovibe's founders. Following the acquisition, he had already hinted that GOG could become more involved in publishing new games.

The official website is already live, explaining that the partnership aims to combine Retrovibe's publishing expertise with GOG's reach – a combination that could prove attractive to developers. bAfter all, GOG is one of the world's largest gaming platforms and recorded around 16 million visitors in September 2026, according to Semrush. The partnership is specifically aimed at the indie market. Particularly interesting is the fact that the games apparently won't be exclusive to GOG but will also be released on Steam.

First games already confirmed

Retrovibe by GOG already showcases 15 games on its official website. However, ten of them were published by Retrovibe before the new partnership, including Project Warlock, Shardpunk and B.I.O.T.A. Five games have yet to be released, with two titles receiving particular attention – and both are retro shooters: Cop Bastard and Project Warlock: Lost Chapters. Both are also planned for release on Steam.

Cop Bastard takes place in Osaka, Japan, during the early 1990s. Playing as police officer Katashi, players fight their way through hordes of Yakuza gangsters. The focus is on fast-paced gunfights, with complex progression systems deliberately left out. Project Warlock: Lost Chapters, the follow-up to one of Retrovibe's previously released games, is also a fast-paced shooter. However, it takes place in a dark fantasy world filled with monsters, where players battle through three distinct settings: jungles, outer space and pirate-themed environments.

Cop Bastard features a VHS-inspired visual style reminiscent of the 1990s.

Alongside the two shooters, the upcoming lineup also includes the tactical RPG Shardpunk 2, the 2D action-adventure The Looter and the survival horror game After Hell Freezes Over. With several releases already on the horizon, it shouldn't take long to see how well the combination of GOG's reach and Retrovibe's publishing experience works in practice.
