Developed by Crazy Rocks, Contraband Police is a simulation game set in the 1980s. You take on the role of a young officer whose mission is to inspect vehicles at the border. But you’ll need to be prepared for any eventuality.

Contraband Police takes place in 1981 in the mountainous region of Karikatka, in the Acarist People's Republic. As a young officer, all your actions are monitored, and you'll have to inspect everyone who wants to cross the border.

Thus, your main mission will be to inspect vehicles using a UV flashlight and tools to seize contraband. But the situation at the border is tense, and Oberankov's gang won't hesitate to attack you. You'll defend yourself with various weapons and by improving the defenses at your border post. In addition, some smugglers will try to escape, and you'll have to chase them.

To help you achieve your goals, you'll be able to upgrade your equipment and border post while earning the respect of your superiors. However, that's not all, because emergency situations will force you to make decisions that will be crucial to your future.

Currently available for $11.39 instead of $29.99 until October 8, 2026, according to SteamDB, Contraband Police is rated "Overwhelmingly Positive" on Steam. Indeed, its open world allows players to explore different locations, and its game mechanics are also well received. It's also possible to reduce the frequency of ambushes to focus on searching and inspecting vehicles.

However, progress feels slow and the mechanics are repetitive. The story has also disappointed some players. Despite this, 95% of its 25,867 reviews are positive. In addition, if you want to try this game before buying it, a demo is also available on Steam.
