Pocket EVO: AYANEO releases new 'pocket' retro gaming handheld with OLED display and class-leading performance
AYANEO has now released the Pocket EVO, less than a week after it confirmed launch pricing and key device specifications. As expected, the gaming handheld starts at $389. However, this only applies to the first 200 units, after which it will rise to $459 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
To recap, the Pocket EVO is the third Snapdragon G3x Gen 2-powered gaming handheld that AYANEO has presented so far after the Pocket DMG and Pocket S. Thus, while the Pocket EVO may be one of the most powerful Android gaming handhelds around, it will not necessarily be as powerful as AYANEO's Windows alternatives like the Air Plus (curr. $729.99 on Amazon).

Still, the Pocket EVO should be capable of emulating almost any retro game across its 7-inch, 1080p, 120 Hz and 800-nit OLED display. Additionally, AYANEO claims that it has equipped the device with an 'X86-level cooling system'. Potentially, this is in light of the throttling issues that outlets reported when reviewing the smaller Pocket S, which struggled to keep the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 in check with its cooling system.
Moreover, the Pocket EVO includes an 8,600 mAh battery and hall effect controls, all within a housing that weighs 478 g and tapers to 17 mm at its thinnest point. Currently, AYANEO estimates that it will begin delivering Pocket EVO orders in November 2024 worldwide. Please see the images below and AYANEO's Indiegogo campaign for more details.
