As the new tests conducted by Digital Foundry show, the current PlayStation 5 Pro console can deliver the same gaming performance as modern mid-range GPUs - namely, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB.
The experts conducted a comparison using identical graphics modes in the Black Myth: Wukong, Forza Horizon 5, and Alan Wake 2. With such prerequisites, the console chip performs on a similar level to mid-range graphics cards, though desktop GPUs still have a little edge here. The console graphics mode was used as a basis, for example, 4K@60fps with upscaling, and the graphics were adjusted to similar settings on the PC. The console maintains a 30 fps refresh rate more consistently in Alan Wake 2 with high-quality mode and ray tracing, although the quality of the rays is slightly lower compared to the PC version.
From the PC gamer's perspective, the Radeon RX 9060 XT is the better option, offering excellent performance for a suggested retail price of $350. The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is generally faster and has more features, even enabling it to run Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing using frame generation.
With that said, Nvidia's 16GB graphics card is considerably more expensive, and the 8GB model underperforms in demanding games. Digital Foundry notes that the GeForce RTX 5070 12GB offers better value within its price range than the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. Ideally, the price for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB should be under $400.
