Philips Brilliance 498P9Z: Huge 49-inch gaming monitor launches with a 165 Hz refresh rate and a KVM switch
After finally releasing its first 'Designed for Xbox' monitor, Philips has announced another gaming monitor, the Brilliance 498P9Z. Incidentally, the Brilliance 498P9Z is a sibling of the Brilliance 498P9 that Philips announced in July 2020.
Like the Brilliance 498P9, the Brilliance 498P9Z also has a 48.8-inch VA panel that resolves at 5,120 x 1,440 pixels, known as DQHD. These values correspond to a 32:9 aspect ratio and a 109 PPI pixel density, for reference. The monitor has a 1800R curvature too and an 8-bit colour depth.
Additionally, the Brilliance 498P9Z can operate at up to 165 Hz and has 4 ms grey-to-grey response times. Philips claims that the monitor peaks at 550 cd/m², which is higher than one of the requirements for its DisplayHDR 400 certification. Philips claims that the monitor is Delta E accurate to a value of less than two and that it covers 122% of sRGB, 91% of DCI-P3 and 89% of AdobeRGB.
Moreover, Philips has included three HDMI 2.0 ports, a single DisplayPort 1.4 connection and a USB hub with six USB 3.2 Type-A ports. The monitor has dual 5 W speakers and a KVM switch, too.
Unfortunately, Philips has not revealed how much the Brilliance 498P9Z costs, nor when it will be available to purchase. The Brilliance 498P9 launched for £749, so we imagine that a gaming version will be more expensive.
