Huawei has announced two monitors today, the MateView and MateView GT. While the MateView has a 3:2 aspect ratio, the MateView GT is a straightforward gaming monitor. Nonetheless, the MateView GT sounds like a good gaming monitor on paper.
The MateView GT runs natively at 3,440 x 1,440 pixels and has a 1,500R curvature. Hence, it has a 21:9 aspect ratio, making it ideal for widescreen gaming. Additionally, Huawei claims that the 34-inch VA panel will reach 350 nits and a 4,000:1 peak contrast ratio. The monitor should have a sub-two Delta E colour accuracy, too.
Moreover, the MateView GT operates at up to 165 Hz and has a soundbar that contains dual 5 W speakers, and a small light bar. Unfortunately, Huawei has only included the older HDMI 2.0 standard, rather than the newer HDMI 2.1, which is necessary for high-refresh-rate gaming on a next-generation console. There is a DisplayPort 1.4 connection though and two USB Type-C ports, one of which the MateView GT uses for power.
The Huawei MateView GT will retail for CNY 3,599 (~US$560). Huawei has not stated if it plans to release the MateView GT globally, although we would expect third-party retailers to carry the monitor eventually, either way.
