According to the latest rumors, Apple might launch its latest AirPods as soon as May 18, 2021. Huawei may have heard these stories too, which may have prompted the OEM to set a date for the launch of its own new FreeBuds, with hints that they, like their previous generation, will feature active noise cancellation (ANC).
Recent leaks also suggest that these fourth-gen TWS earbud flagships will also continue, and possibly improve on, the stemmed design of the FreeBuds 3. New photos uploaded to Weibo may confirm these impressions. They allegedly show the new accessories, along with their charging case.
These alleged FreeBuds 4, shown alongside some older Huawei earbuds in a chrome-like finish, have a case of the same basic shape as their forebears; then again, they may be a little slimmer compared to the previous models. They are indeed rumored to be lighter and more comfortable than the 3s.
Then again, this new leak offers no further hints as to how much the FreeBuds 4 might cost at launch. For context, their predecessors currently go for US$98 (without wireless charging) on Amazon. As for their impending upgrades, they are slated to launch on May 19, 2021 via Huawei's Vmall in China.
