Philips has expanded its Momentum gaming monitor line with 27-inch and 32-inch models. The Momentum 279M1RV and Momentum 329M1RV are, like the Momentum 559M1RYV, designed for the Xbox Series X|S. However, their specifications also make them suitable as PC gaming monitors.
Specifically, the IPS panels resolve at 4K (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) and support up to 144 Hz refresh rates. The inclusion of HDMI 2.1 ports allows the Momentum 279M1RV and Momentum 329M1RV to support the 120 Hz refresh rate necessary for Xbox Series X|S certification. Additionally, Philips has certified the pair as AMD FreeSync Premium compatible, which should minimise image tearing.
Philips states the new Momentum monitors have 1,000:1 contrast ratios too, along with 1 ms GtG and MPRT response times. Moreover, the Momentum 279M1RV peaks at 450 cd/m², with the Momentum 329M1RV managing up to 500 cd/m². For some reason, the monitors are DisplayHDR 600 and DisplayHDR 400 certified, respectively.
Furthermore, Philips asserts that the monitors cover 100% of the AdobeRGB, NTSC and sRGB colour spaces. Incidentally, the Momentum 279M1RV and Momentum 329M1RV support Ambiglow, a feature for which Philips external monitors and TVs are known.
Also, the pair have three HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 connection and a single USB Type-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery at up to 65 W. The monitors have one USB-B (upstream) port too and four USB 3.2 (downstream) ports.
The Philips Momentum 279M1RV and Momentum 329M1RV will be available from next month. While the 27-inch model retails for £719.99, the 32-inch edition will cost £899.99.
