POCO F4: Hands-on images leak of possible Redmi K40S re-brand with an improved primary camera
Xiaomiui has leaked more information about the POCO F4, the long-awaited successor to the POCO F3. While the POCO F4 was thought to be the global version of the Redmi K50, it now seems that it is the Redmi K40S in a different guise. So far, the website has leaked two hands-on images, while also providing details about the device's camera hardware.
As one photo below shows, the POCO F4 carries the model number '22021211RG', previously listed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in March. According to FCC documentation, the 22021211RG has a 4,400 mAh battery and runs Android 12, unlike recent Redmi Note series launches. For reference, the presence of this battery capacity rules out 22021211RG being a global version of the Redmi K50, which has a 5,500 mAh battery.
However, Xiaomiui has demonstrated that the POCO F4 has a 64 MP primary camera, up from the 48 MP Sony IMX582 sensor in the Redmi K40S and Redmi K50. Specifically, the website has found in MIUI source code that the 22021211RG utilises the Omnivision OV64B, a sensor also found in the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G, the POCO X3 GT and the Redmi Note 10S, among other devices.
Seemingly, Xiaomi could release the POCO F4 in elaborate colourways too. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when Xiaomi will announce the POCO F4, although it is expected to arrive with a Snapdragon 870 SoC and a 6.67-inch display that outputs at 120 Hz and 1080p.
