There will be a dire lack of "Ultra" phones on the market next year. Xiaomi is rumored to have canceled development of the Xiaomi 18 Ultra, and a new leak now indicates that the Oppo Find X10 Ultra and Vivo X500 Ultra will also not be available globally.

Months ago, word on the grapevine surfaced indicating that the major Chinese smartphone makers could eschew releasing their next-gen "Ultra" models entirely. There was some truth to those reports, further information seems to prove.

At this point, it seems almost certain that Xiaomi will not be launching a Xiaomi 18 Ultra this year, instead choosing to focus on its Pro-suffixed models. According to a new leak, direct rivals Oppo and Vivo will not go down that exact route. Reportedly, both companies are set to present their next-gen "Ultra" phones as usual in China, but will not bring them to the global market.

Admittedly, this is something of a return to the status quo for both companies, with their current-gen models—the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra—being the first of their ilk to release globally. If this leak is anything to go by, the Oppo Find X10 Ultra and Vivo X500 Ultra will both remain exclusive to the Chinese market. It's unclear, however, if the less premium models in both flagship lineups will receive identical treatment.
