The Buds Pro are currently the latest TWS earbuds sold by the brand OnePlus. However, according to a new leak, the Buds Z2 will take over in this respect before too long. They are slated to debut alongside a new flagship smartphone variant later in 2021.

OnePlus is currently believed to have selected the 9R rather than the 9 for a late-year refresh in 2021. This phone could debut during an event that may also unveil new accessories or peripherals. Now, that eminent source of product renders in advance OnLeaks suggests that these may include a pair of TWS earbuds called the Buds Z2.

Judging by this alleged name, these would be immediate successors for the pre-existing OnePlus Buds Z, which fall into a more affordable category compared to the Buds Pro. On that note, OnLeaks' new images depict a set of earbuds that do not deviate hugely from the original Zs in their design, right down to their signature, metallic, CD-like accents.

It is possible that their ear-tips might have acquired a slightly different angle compared to their rumored predecessor, but that is pretty much it. The overall impression is that OnePlus intends to release the exact same AirPod clones all over again, and in the same default color (white) too.

The "Buds Z2" are not even projected to gain any spec updates on their reveal at present. On the other hand, they now appear to sport various new apertures that could be for additional mics, sensors or controls. Their functions may be revealed in October 2021, alongside those of the rumored 9RT.
