The rollout of a stable One UI 7 version has been a long time coming. The Android 15-based update for Galaxy devices seems to have had a bumpy development filled with delays along the way. Some sources revealed that the company was also working on One UI 7.1 with impressive new features. However, a recent report suggests that Samsung will skip One UI 7.1.
Samsung reportedly canceled One UI 7.1; One UI 7.0.1 may replace it
SamMobile, citing anonymous sources, reports that the delay in the development of One UI 7.0 “has forced Samsung to consider skipping One UI 7.1.” Previous leaks suggested that Samsung would debut One UI 7.1 with the launch of its next-gen foldable devices. However, the report says that now, smartphones like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip FE will likely run a One UI 7.0.1 firmware with fewer changes than expected.
One UI 7.0 rollout is reportedly weeks away
If you were hoping to get One UI 7 soon on your Galaxy S24, you might need to be very patient. SamMobile also claims that it's quite likely that Samsung has delayed the rollout of the stable Android 15-based OTA to eligible devices until the launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge. According to leaks, the slimmest model in the Galaxy S25 family will hit the market in April.
So, if the report is true, you'll have to wait around two months to get One UI 7. Logically, the wait will be even longer for owners of older Galaxy S models and users of Galaxy A phones.
